Our cycle safety sessions are for parents with young children. Everything that we teach – from fitting helmets, safety checks, bike control skills and path/road riding – is relevant to children. We also cover journeys to school by bike. The courses enable parents to develop their own cycling skills and confidence so that you can pass this on to your children. The courses are essential for those who plan to ride with trailers, tag–alongs, child seats or with children riding independently.
Our courses are split with an initial 1.5 hours of traffic free training, and after a short break the remaining time is spent on–road. Note that we do not ride on the footpaths as only adults are present; but a lot of discussion of riding on the footpath, shared paths, and quiet roads is included. The training gives parents the confidence to know when children are ready for the next stage plus ideas for activities to allow children to practice and demon- strate their capabilities.
Our training is provided by nationally accredited trainers Bikes@work. Please note that these are lessons for adults to improve their skills and that children are not part of the training.
