WHITTLESEA Council will ask the State Government to review the 20-year time-frame set for the Mernda and Epping North rail extension in the recent Public Transport Victoria plan. Mayor Rex Griffin said the council supported the report in principle, but the plan did not prioritise rail extension needs in Whittlesea despite the city’s strong population growth. The council has also called for a dedicated minister for growth areas and a state and federal infrastructure fund.
